Samir Zahirović
Samir Zahirović was born in 1968 in Tuzla, where he still lives and works. He is a member of the Photographic Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUFBiH), Photo-Cinema Club Tuzla and Art Group Lucido from Lukavac. He showed his work in more than 350 joint exhibitions around the world on all 6 continents.
He discovered his love for photography at the age of 12 and at the beginning of his career he mostly worked in the field of photojournalism and war photography. In 1995 in Aachen, as a result of this work, he organized his first solo exhibition Tuzla-Eine Stadt in Europa. His second exhibition Faces of Shiraz was shown in 2017, which were soon followed by two more, Portraits and The Gazes. He held his fifth exhibition of photographs “Retrospective” in Ljubljana, at the Šolt Gallery, in January 2019. He held his sixth solo exhibition “Colorful Cuba in Black and White” in August 2021 in Lukavac, and the 7th exhibition in Sarajevo in May 2022. He held his eighth exhibition in the spring of 2023 in Bursa, Turkey.
He was awarded more than 300 different awards, honors and recognitions for his art work: 55 gold, 25 silver, 23 bronze medals and 250 honorable mentions on FIAP exhibitions. On national FOTOBiH exhibitions he was first place winner 10 times. In 2022 he was granted distinction EFIAP/s (Excellence FIAP(silver) by the International Federation of Photographic Art for his contribution to artistic photography. In 2018 the Photographic Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina granted him honorary title Candidate for Master of Photography as well as title Instructor of Photography.
For four year in a row, he has been the most successful photographer in Bosnia and Herzegovina at international exhibitions.
His artistic expression covers many topics, genres and techniques but mainly he focuses on portraits and architecture. In recent years he specialized in 360° panoramic photography and he became the first Google Trusted Photographer in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
