Lai Hon Foo / Malaysia

About Me
Lai Hon Foo was born in Kuching, Sarawak, and is an avid photographer.
He began his photography journey in 1998 but only started to seriously pursue it at the end of 2010 when he joined the Sarawak Photo-Art Society (SPAS). In 2011, he began actively participating in local photography contests.
In 2012, he became a Committee Member of SPAS. That same year, he took his first step into the international photography scene, participating in two International Salons organized by local photography societies, where he successfully earned six Acceptances.
Building on this momentum, he participated in International Exhibitions organized by foreign photography societies in 2013.
In 2014, after receiving his first photography distinction, such as ASPAS, followed by APSM and ASWAN, Lai set a new goal: to pursue and collect photography distinctions.
Over the years, he has achieved significant success and has accumulated 50 photography distinctions (awards & honors), including Hon.FFPC and six Master-level titles : MICS, MUSPA, MSWAN, MFMPA, MSAP and MIVAF.

Iban Long House Lifestyle Story
High in Sarawak’s green hills, an old Iban longhouse stood far from the city’s noise. There was no phone signal, no electric lights—only mountain water, oil lamps, and the hum of a diesel generator.
Elders told stories while children ran barefoot along the verandah. Meals cooked over wood fires filled the air with the scent of rice, smoked fish, and jungle herbs.
When night fell, the generator stopped, and darkness wrapped the longhouse. Crickets sang, the river whispered, and the stars shone brighter than anywhere else. Life was simple—hard at times, but deeply beautiful.
